Music on Main presents Hampshire Young People’s Chorus in its Twentieth Anniversary Concert at First Congregational Church, 165 Main St., Amherst on Saturday, May 11 at 4 pm.

Hampshire YPC is led by its founding artistic director K. C. Conlan, Assistant Director Reka Peterson, and High School Ensemble Conductor Dr. Stephen Paparo.

The concert features newly commissioned works by three local composers – Rick Beaudoin, Greg Brown and Geoff Hudson. Choral Arts New England awarded Hampshire YPC an Alfred Nash Patterson grant to support this initiative. Additionally, the choir will perform folk song settings, spirituals, and pieces from Canada, Norway, Israel, Kenya, Ghana, Australia and China.

Twelve members of the choir will be traveling to the Sing A Mile High Festival in Denver in June to work with renowned conductor and composer Rollo Dilworth.

Donations of $15 welcome and will support Hampshire YPC scholarship and tour funds. Reception to follow.
