As excitement builds for the 91st Academy Awards on February 24, 2019, join us for free screenings of past winners of “Best Costume Design” throughout January.
Tonight’s film is The Duchess, a 2008 film chronicling the exploits of an 18th-century British royal, the Duchess of Devonshire, featuring Keira Knightley. Based on the book Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire by Amanda Foreman, it is a portrait of a dazzling young woman at the mercy of the misfortunes of love and the inequalities of the age in which she lived. This film is rated PG-13.
Michael O’Connor received the award for Best Costume Design at the 81st Academy Awards in February 2009.
