This May 8th we want to be with you – as safely as possible – to share our respect, appreciation, admiration and support for our Health Care Workers, First Responders, Emergency Services and all the Essential Service workers who are up and running every day. Our EMTs, restaurant workers, hospital staff, teachers who are online, service workers, shop owners gone virtual or online, mechanics – everyone working to keep us healthy, fed, educated and safe, distracted and comforted.
Just because we are physically separated, we are still emotionally connected and together in this.
We’ll be lining the streets of downtown with blue luminaria (candles courtesy of WinterFest Amherst), blue balloons and decorating trees with blue ribbons. Individual businesses with storefront windows will be joining in too, some with blue gels courtesy of UMass Fine Arts Center.
Please drive through town center at 8 pm and honk your horn in appreciation or ring your bell if you’re on a bike!
