The Mohanam Village Heritage Centre in Tamil Nadu India (www.mohanam.org) is committed to preserving and sharing the vibrant traditional arts and culture of Tamil Nadu.
Yoga Center Amherst owes its existence to the ancient gifts of Indian spirituality. As a way of honoring those gifts, we support the Mohanam Village Heritage Centre and their efforts to preserve Tamil culture in this age of creeping materialism. Mohanam offers classes and workshops in traditional Tamil forms of dance, music, cooking, art, martial arts, and crafts. They also run a subsidized kindergarten that empowers women by offering high quality childcare at reduced rates. And they provide tours and performances for audiences from all around the world, sharing the beauty and richness of Tamil culture.
On June 17th, Rajaveni Balasundharam, a founder and member of Mohanam’s core team, will be cooking up a traditional Tamil feast at Pasta e Basta in downtown Amherst! Pasta e Basta has graciously donated everything, so 100% of proceeds will go directly to Mohanam. Please join us in supporting Mohanam, and experience the beauty of South Indian food, art, and music!
